Ward

Define your rules once, share them with your team, and every AI coding agent follows them, from the first edit to production.

Four nested shields around your code: Edit, Commit, Push, and CI.

Ward checks code in four layers: after every agent edit, before each commit, before each push, and in CI. The rules live in ward.toml, so every teammate and every agent follows the same ones.

Ward is in alpha. It supports Java projects built with Maven or Gradle today, and support for the most widely used languages is planned. It also provides project-local integrations for Claude Code, OpenCode, and native harnesses (Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot CLI, Gemini CLI, Windsurf, Cline, Factory Droid, and Amp).

  • Detect supported Java/Maven and Java/Kotlin Gradle projects and initialize configuration from standard or strict presets.
  • Run configured quality gates as text or machine-readable JSON, locally or in CI, using cumulative local and complete CI profiles.
  • Install agent hooks that run checks after edits and writes.
  • Opt into managed Git quality hooks for fast pre-commit and cumulative pre-push checks.
  • Drive an external coding agent with ward loop until the gates pass.
  • Diagnose setup problems with ward doctor.
